Henry Cejudo, who was the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in free style wrestling, recently confirmed to MMAJunkie.com that he almost signed with WWE but chose UFC instead. <\/p>\n
Before he made his decision, Cejudo was scheduled to come to WWE SummerSlam to meet with company officials. He had been pitched the idea of becoming WWE’s top Latino babyface and they told him they would groom him to become the new Rey Mysterio.<\/p>\n
He told MMAJunkie.com:<\/p>\n
“It was something that was actually in the works. One of their talent scouts (Gerald Brisco) saw me, met me, and wanted to bring me in for an audition or whatnot.<\/p>\n
“I’ve always watched WWE ever since I was a little kid. But MMA right now is my No. 1 priority. Maybe WWE in the future, but as of now, I’m sticking straight to the UFC and my fighting career.
