Introduction:
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Event Center. Last time you saw us we were going over WWF No Mercy 1999. Well this time we are doing another show that not many people would even dare to do but we are going to ahead and do it anyways. We are going back to, what most, consider to be one of the worst time periods in wrestling history. We are going to the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. And we are going to three tiers of a cage and we are going to WCW Slamboree 2000. I’m not sure if I can’t wait to see how this goes or not but here we are so lets get to it.
Show Opening:
The show opens up with a recap of what happened from Thunder this past Wednesday. They show highlights of the battle royal and who gets the shot at the WCW title at the Great American Bash. They then cut to outside where a huge tour bus shows up and out comes the Millionaire’s club. They then cut to the dressing room of the New Blood where Bischoff says they started the war but we are going to finish it. They then cut to a video where they highlight the matches on the card. We get some pyro as we finally get into the arena. Lets get to the ring for the opening match.
Match 1: WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Chris Candido (c) vs. The Artist
Candido and Tammy get to the ring first and before Candido’s opponent comes out, Tammy gets on the mic and cuts a promo. Tammy says this is Kansas City and they call it the show me state. Tammy says “how about I show you mine and then boys you can owe her one.” Tammy then takes off her fur coat and shows off a very skimpy trash. She looks terrible here. Looks like she is coked out of her mind and bloated. Unfortunate she couldn’t get out of her own way. The Artist’s music finally hits and heads toward the ring. Speaking of the entrance, we have the elevated entrance ramp and I always loved that. Felt like you could do a lot with the ramp lining up with the ring.
We start this match with a tie up and a few go behinds before the Artist gets a head lock. They are off to a fast start and both guys get near falls early with some unique action. Candido goes up and over and then charges at the Artist and he gets back dropped to the outside of the ring. He landed on the mat outside and basically did a headstand selling the hold. Tammy laid out a loud ass screech that sold the move.
Candido heads up to the top and comes down on the Artist on the outside but the Artist was able to block it a little bit. Both guys were laid out on the floor for a moment. Candido goes for a pile driver on the ramp but the Artist ends up back dropping him. They finally get back in the ring and continue the action. Candido lays in a brutal chop to the Artist. They exchange action until Candido throws him out of the ring through the middle rope. The Artist ends up suplexing Candido to the outside from the apron.
They get some back and forth action but the Artist ends up nailing Candido with a power bomb. Candido appeared to have sand bagged him so the Artist had to muscle him up so the power bomb wasn’t that great. Candido goes for a hurricanrana off the top rope but the Artist held on and Candido falls on his head. The Artist goes off the top trying to get a roll up but he totally misses but he ends up grabbing Candido and gets a 2 count. Candido slams the Artist by the ropes and he heads to the top but the Artist gets up and hits Candido with a samoan drop off the top rope.
Tammy gets on the apron and says that her leg is hurt so it distracts the ref. Paisley ends up on the walk way with Tammy and they stare each other down. Paisley grabs the hair of Tammy and throws her down. Tammy gets up and grabs the chair and tries to hit Paisley with it but she ducks out of the way and Tammy nails the Artist. Candido goes for the cover and gets a 2 but the bell rings as if the match is over but the ringing of the bell was pre-mature. Candido picks up the Artist and hits him with a pile driver. Candido follows that up with a diving head butt off the top rope and he goes for the cover and gets a 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall and still WCW Cruiserweight Champion…..Chris Candido!
After the match Paisley gets in the ring and goes after Tammy again. Paisley throws Tammy down and hits Candido with a low blow. Tammy tries to leave but the Artist stops her from leaving. The Artist and Paisley then disrobe Tammy and take her dress off. Classic WCW having her wear granny panties and a big ass bra. Nothing attractive about seeing her like that. Paisley and the Artist celebrate in the ring and the crowd could care less.
Recap:
This was a pretty entertaining match. Both guys worked a pretty fast pace and the action never stopped. There was some decent spots and they hit their mark. The women weren’t overly involved either until the end. It can get annoying when they interfere the whole match and take away from the guys in the ring. That wasn’t the case here and these guys put on a pretty good match for the time they are given. This was a solid start to the show if you ask me.
They head to the announce table where Tony, Scott, and Mark talk about the triple cage main event. Tony says this is the first time ever but they had similar matches at both Great American Bash 1988 and Uncensored 1996.
Match 2: WCW Hardcore Title Match: Terry Funk (c) vs. Norman Smiley/Ralphus
Before the match starts they show a video of all of the damage and punishment Terry Funk has endured recently. Funk is walking to the ring but he ends up going into the bath room looking for Norman Smiley. Theres a guy in a stall that looks like Norman but it’s not him and Norman ends up using a fire extinguisher on Funk and he gets the advantage of the match early. Norman throws Funk into the garage door and throws a trash can at him.
Theres some dude in catcher gear that starts nailing Funk with a trash can. Norman finds a chair and ends up decking Funk with it. This is just a brawl in the back. Norman throws trash cans, chairs, and tables on Funk. Really nothing fancy about this at all. Norman puts Funk into a trash can and he tries to nail him with a chair but Norman ends up falling on his ass and doesn’t even hit Funk. Funk throws Norman into Mean Genes interview area. Then the mystery guy starts throwing boxes and stuff at Funk and Funk ends up throwing chairs at the master opponent.
Norman is climbing up a ladder but Funk kicks him off and he goes crashing through the table. Funk ends up finding a block of wood and breaks it over the head of Norman. Norman ends up whipping Funk into carrying cases for the electric equipment. Funk gets a chair and nails Norman over the head with it. Funk then picks up Norman and slams him on to a trash can. The mystery guy is barely hitting Funk in the head with a trash can. This is nothing but garbage to be honest. Just the same crap over and over again.
Funk ends up grabbing the mystery partner and drags him out to the arena on to the ramp. Funk pulls the shirt over the mystery partner’s head and nails him in the back with the steel chair 2 times for good measure. Funk is just dragging this guy to the middle of the apron. Funk then decks the guy with a chair and his identity is exposed and it is Ralphus. Ralphus goes over the top rope and Funk grabs on to his trunks and exposes his ass to the crowd. Norman finally shows up and throws a ladder at Funk. Norman grabs a ladder and climbs to the second rope and just drops it on the head of Funk. We get a chair shot to the head to Funk. Norman then does the big wiggle on Funk. Funk is selling the wiggle like he is really getting rammed in the ass. What a hilarious spot that was.
Funk tries to hit Norman with a chair but Norman blocks it and gets nailed in the face with the chair. Ralphus then does the wiggle on Funk. Funk grabs the chair and decks Ralphus with it. Norman gets nailed with a chair for good measure. Ralphus gets up to his feet and gets nailed with a chair. Norman checks on Ralphus and Funk ends up rolling him up and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner and still WCW Hardcore Champion…..Terry Funk!
After the match Norman and Ralphus do the wigglier the ring. They get beat and they are celebrating as if they just won? What kind of dumb shit is that.
Recap:
This was a terrible hardcore match. Nothing but trash can spots and chair shots. Ralphus added nothing to the match and was just a waste of space. I hate the fact that they got beat but acted like it didn’t matter. No matter how scripted the outcome may be you should be upset if you lose or at least act like you care just a little bit. Basically, what Norman was saying is that he cares more about doing the big wiggle than he did winning a title. Doesn’t make much sense to me and it just solidified the garbage that was this match. Definitely would recommend skipping this match if you do happen to watch this show.
Backstage Interview: David Arquette
They go to the back where a limo shows up and David Arquette gets out. Okerlund says with his wife making a million dollars an episode, why didn’t he arrive with the Millionaire’s Club? David says that he has a million dollars on his own, he doesn’t need his wife’s money. He also says that DDP thinks he is not a sports entertainer but it’s whatever. Gene asks him what his thoughts are on the match tonight and David says that he is scared and not to let the smile fool ya.
Match 3: Curt Hennig vs. Shawn Stasiak
Stasiak starts the match with an arm drag on Hennig. They tie up a second time and Stasiak hip tosses him again. Hennig ends up getting control of the match and hits Stasiak with a hip toss and a body slam. This sends Stasiak out to the floor to regroup while Hennig climbs to the middle rope and the crowd goes wild for him. Stasiak gets in a long head lock until Hennig breaks free. Stasiak is trying to get quick pins with a cross body then a sunset flip but Hennig gets out at 2 on both of them.
Stasiak goes for a right and misses and Hennig lays in some rights and chops before Hennig takes the leg out from under Stasiak. They then cut the camera to the seats ringside where the Misfits in Action are sitting. The match between Hennig and Stasiak ends up outside where Stasiak gets control and rams Hennig head first into the announce table. He then chokes out Hennig with a camera cable. Stasiak throws Hennig back in and he comes off the top rope with a flying clothesline. Stasiak then throws Hennig to the outside. Hennig tries to slam Stasiak but his back gave out and Stasiak ends up throwing Hennig back into the ring.
Stasiak gets Hennig in a sleeper hold and leaves it in for a minute or two. Hennig gets out of the sleeper hold and tries to break free but Stasiak ends up pulling him down by his hair. Stasiak heads up to for a big cross body but Hennig moves out of the way and Stasiak misses. Hennig lays in the vicious chops and then a back drop. Hennig stays in control by laying in the right hands. Stasiak catches Hennig coming in and catapults him into the turnbuckle where Hennig hits the steel bar. Stasiak then gets Hennig in the Fisherman Suplex, aka the Hennig Plex, and gets the 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring. Your winner by way of pinfall….Shawn Stasiak!
Recap:
This match was decent at best. Hennig was well past his peak years and was slowed throughout the match. Stasiak actually looked pretty damn good. His moves off the top rope looked good and he was able to keep the match going. It’s kind of surprising to see him beat Hennig in the middle of the ring like that without anything questionable going on. Hennig basically did the job for Shawn Stasiak. It is also surprising to see a clean match like that during this time period. Usually you have 2-3 things going on but this was just a solid little match on the card. I’d check it out at least once.
They head to the locker room of the New Blood where Russo is touting the success of Shawn Stasiak. Steiner is working out with a rope and looking jacked per usual. Russo then grabs the arm of Steiner and tells him to lets make it two in a row and Scott tells Russo not to put his hands on him.
Match 4: WCW United States Title Match: Scott Steiner (c) vs. Captain Rection
Before the match gets started Morrus gets on the mic and says that he never wants to be known as Hugh Morrus again. He said that name was given to him by Eric Bischoff and it was done to make him look stupid. He said from here on out he wants you to call him by his real name, Hugh G Rection or Captain Rection for short. Yeah as if Hugh Morrus made you look completely stupid, what the hell do you think that name is going to do for you?
Steiner gets out of the ring and gets in the face of the fans and tells them they aint shit. Scott, was terrible in the ring at this point, but was just awesome all together. Steiner gets control early and is just laying in the chops and right hands. Steiner ends up going for a hip toss but Rection blocks it and levels Scott with a clothesline. Mark Madden “Captain Rection is working stiff in there, I can tell you that.” What an idiot this guy was/is. He’s terrible. Midajah and Shakira get on the apron to try and distract Rection. Scott gets in on the other side of the ring and nails Rection in the back with a clothesline.
Steiner goes for a suplex but Rection blocks it and hits Steiner with an atomic drop and then follows that up with a spinning wheel kick. Rection hits Steiner with a side slam and then climbs to the top rope and nails Steiner with an elbow drop. Rection goes up to the top again while the ref is distracted by Steiner. The girls knock Rection down and he gets tied up in the tree of woe. Steiner goes outside and grabs the neck of Rection. Steiner nails Rection with a clothesline then drops the elbow for a 2 count.
Steiner drives Rection into the corner and then dumps him with an exploder suplex. Steiner then drops down and gives about 10 push ups with ease. He makes it look so easy. Steiner then hits Rection with a belly to belly suplex. Steiner gets up and goes after the ref and he high tails it out of the ring. They are really getting over the fact that this guy is out of control and it works perfectly. Steiner gets Rection in a bear hug in the middle of the ring. Steiner gets tired of the bear hug so he just dumps Rection with an over head belly to belly. Steiner rolls out of the ring and gets in the face of some fans again.
Steiner goes charging into the corner and Rection gets the boot up that lays out Steiner. Rection then charges and hits Steiner with a big splash in the corner. He then follows that up with 1 more and tries for a third but Steiner runs out and drops Rection with a clothesline. Steiner picks up Rection and hits him with a double under hook suplex. Steiner gets Rection up in a tombstone type move but Rection reverses it and hits Steiner with a tombstone. Rection goes up to the top rope and goes for his moonsault but the girls get in his way to distract him enough for Steiner to be able to get out of the way. However, Rection hits Steiner in the head with his boots still. Steiner then gets Rection in the Steiner Recliner and the ref calls for the bell right away. Your winner by submission and still WCW United States Champion…..Scott Steiner!
After the match is over Steiner throws the ref out of the ring and then gets Rection back in the Steiner Recliner. R&B security come out and stop M.I.A from getting in to help. However, Booker T comes out of no where and fends off Steiner and saves Rection.
Recap:
This match was pretty solid as well. Steiner came to work tonight and you can tell with how well this match turned out. The suplexes during the match were just awesome and really highlighted the strength Steiner had. Rection did his part in the match and hit some nice moves as well. The interference by the ladies wasn’t bad either and again it wasn’t over done. The after the match stuff advanced the storyline between Steiner and Booker. So all in all everything was done well here and I can’t complain. Outside of the Hardcore Title match, this card has been pretty solid so far.
Backstage Interview: Kanyon
Gene asks Kanyon about turning his back on the New Blood and helping out his friend Diamond Dallas Page. Kanyon says he backs Page because he is more than a friend. Kanyon says he considers Page a brother and that blood is thicker than water. Kanyon said that Page taught him a long time ago you don’t get anywhere in this business by kissing ass but by busting your own. Kanyon is going to prove to everyone, including Mike Awesome, that no one is better than Kanyon.
Match 5: Mike Awesome vs. Kanyon
Before the match, they show a highlight video of Mike Awesome powerbombing a bunch of guys including Hulk Hogan from Nitro. The match starts off fast and furious with rights from Kanyon. Kanyon ends up nailing Awesome with a big time clothesline. Kanyon drives some shoulders into Awesome to keep control of the match early. Awesome drops Kanyon with an elbow to the face. Mike Awesome then hits the ropes and goes flying over the top rope with a suicide dive. A guy the size of Awesome shouldn’t be able to do something like that. What an awesome move.
They brawl on the outside for a bit as Awesome throws Kanyon into the steel steps. Awesome picks up Kanyon and tries to drive him head first into the steel post but Kanyon ends up pushing him chest first into the post. Awesome is laid across the post and Kanyon ends up hitting him with a baseball slide on the inside drive Awesome chest first into the post. Kanyon then hits a flip on Awesome off the apron to the outside. Awesome gets up to his feet and Kanyon is trying to pull him in but Awesome drops down and clothesline Kanyon over the top rope.
Awesome gets back in the ring and heads to the top rope and nails Kanyon with a big time clothesline. Awesome gets frustrated and ends up throwing Kanyon over the top rope. Awesome picks up a chair and drives it into the stomach of Kanyon. Awesome then nails Kanyon in the back with the chair as well. Awesome grabs a chair and rams into Kanyon and he goes over the guard rail as they brawl amongst the fans. Awesome grabs a camera cable and chokes out Kanyon with it.
Awesome gets Kanyon back in the ring and hits a sling slot splash from the apron for a 2 count. Kanyon goes for a surprise pin but Awesome kicks out and levels Kanyon with a clothesline. Awesome throws Kanyon back outside again. Awesome is having a good time outside because he has spent the majority of the match there. Awesome then grabs a chair and nails Kanyon in the back with it. Awesome climbs to the top rope and is about to drop with a chair but Kanyon shakes the rope and racks Awesome. Kanyon gets back on the ring and ends up hitting Awesome with a neck breaker off the top rope.
Kanyon hits a swinging neck breaker and nearly gets a 3 count out of it. Kanyon goes to the top and hits Awesome with a cross body but Awesome rolls through and ends up getting a 2 count on Kanyon. Kanyon picks Awesome up and tries a pile driver but Awesome hits him with a Alabama slam type move. That sounded brutal and I am surprised Kanyon didn’t get knocked out. Awesome then picks up Kanyon and hits him with a devastating power bomb. It looked like Awesome dropped Kanyon to early and Kanyon lands right on his neck. He looks lifeless here a little bit. That was brutal as well.
Awesome goes to the outside and lifts up the protected padding on the outside. Awesome nearly gets knocked onto the concrete himself but Instead of knocking Awesome off the apron, Awesome sling shots in and hits Kanyon with a shoulder block. Awesome attempts to hit Kanyon with a running power bomb to the outside on to the concrete but Kanyon drops down and attempts to hit Awesome with a fist but Awesome ducks and hits Kanyon with a release German suplex. Awesome drops off the entrance ramp and removes more padding on the floor to expose the concrete. Awesome then picks up Kanyon and is about to power bomb him to the concrete but the Wolfpack music hits and here comes KEVIN NASH!!!
The two guys brawl on the apron as Nash clotheslines Awesome into the ring. Nash is laying in the right hands to mike Awesome. Here come the New Blood and Nash is taking on all of them. We got Vampiro, Kidman, Douglas, and Candido. The Millionaire’s Club comes running out to help out Nash. R&B Security come out as well and the Millionaire’s Club take all of them out. The ref calls the match and this one ends in a no contest.
Recap:
This was a really good match up until the ending. To be honest though I’m not really mad at the ending. They were trying to develop both guys so you don’t want either one to do the job at this point. This also allows you to get the New Blood vs. Millionaire’s Club feud on to the PPV and you get the brawl. Some of the spots Kanyon took were ridiculous and looked painful as hell. The power bomb was sick as well as the Alabama slam that he took. All in all this was a pretty solid match all around. I would recommend checking it out just because of how awesome, no pun intended, Mike Awesome really was.
Match 6: The Total Package vs. Buff Bagwell
Before the match they show a highlight video showing the feud between Luger, Bagwell, and Russo. After the highlight video they go to the New Blood locker room where Russo is trying to get Liz to sit next to him because Russo says he has something for her. Vince tells her that she needs to go change and that he owns her because he has her contract. Russo then says wait til you see this as Elizabeth walks off.
They have a dick swinging contest to see who has the best body before they even get going. Buff gets the advantage early with punches and kicks to Luger. Buff stays on top of the action with a back elbow off the ropes. Buff goes for a suplex but Luger blocks it and ends up getting buff in a standing vertical suplex of his own. He follows that up with an inverted atomic drop times 2. Luger goes up top for the 10 punches but Buff pushes him off and Luger ends up hitting him with a clotheslines. Luger then dumps Buff to the outside of the ring.
Luger drops Buff over the guard rial and then slaps him across the face a few times. Luger then takes the chain of Buff and throws him back into the ring. Buff attacks Luger when he gets back into the ring and drops him across the top rope with a clothesline type move. Buff then hits a double arm DDT on Luger for the 2 count. Buff gets Luger in a head lock on the ground and uses the rope for some extra leverage. Luger breaks free and they end up running into each other head first. Buff bodyslams Luger then gets him in a camel clutch thats half assed at best.
Buff jumps up to drop on the back of Luger but Luger rolls over and hits Buff in the nuts. They cut to Russo in the back where he is calling for Liz to see this. Liz comes out of no where and pushes Russo down in the chair and nails him with the bat. Elizabeth comes out to the ring carrying a bat as Luger gets the advantage in the ring. Luger hits Buff with a couple of clotheslines and calls for the rack but Buff stops that. Liz gets in the ring and tries to hit Buff with the bat but Buff blocks it.
Buff steals the bat from Liz and nails Luger with it in the midsection. Buff follows that up with a swinging neck breaker. Buff signals for the Buff Block Buster but Liz gets on the steps and nails Buff in the back with the baseball bat. Luger then picks up Buff and gets him in the Torture Rack and Buff submits within 2-3 seconds. Your winner by submission…..The Total Package Lex Luger!
After the match Elizabeth and Luger embrace until Chuck Palumbo comes out of no where and attacks Luger with a work out bar. Buff and Chuck then work over Buff while Elizabeth looks on. Palumbo then gets Luger in the Torture Rack as Buff takes Elizabeth to the back with him.
Recap:
This was surprisingly half way decent. Buff controlled the match for the most part but it wasn’t that bad. It didn’t go long enough to where it can get terrible so thats a plus. Elizabeth interfering was well done and again wasn’t overdone. You expected something like that to happen once she broke free from Russo. The Palumbo debut after the match was well done as well. The commentators did their part in getting him over as a Lex Luger rip off and pointed out his gear. Just a pretty good angle at the end there. Theres nothing special about this match but it’s not as bad as most people probably expected it to be considering who was in it.
Backstage Interview: The Franchise Shane Douglas
Gene calls him Shane Douglas and he immediately stops him to correct him that he is the Franchise. Gene mentions the nearly decade of bad blood between Flair and Douglas. Douglas says it has been 7 long torturous years where he has had to listen to Flair’s bs. Douglas then spouts off Flair’s catch phrases and says they go on and on and on but it ends tonight. Douglas says he is damn sick and tired of it. Douglas tells Flair to look into his eyes, the window onto a mans soul, and tonight he is going to retire his ass once and for all. Douglas says when the dust settles Flair will know that he just got his ass Franchised!
Match 7: Ric Flair vs. Shane Douglas
Douglas gets to the ring and grabs the mic and cuts a promo right after he had a backstage interview. Guy sure did love to hear himself talk. “Cut the damn music.” Douglas tells the crowd they have the pleasure of watching Ric Flair go down to the greater wrestler. Douglas says that Flair will fall to the Franchise Shane Douglas and that the idiots in the crowd can’t do anything to stop it.
Ric Flair comes out in street clothes and grabs a mic himself. Flair tells the ref that he knows the drill when a World Champion walks down the aisle you hold the rope open for them and that Douglas knows nothing about that. Flair says that he and Harley Race did their best to preserve the sport of professional wrestling and that a dip shit like Douglas has nothing to say about it. Flair says it is going to be like 1981 and he is going to kick his ECW ass.
Well the action itself probably won’t top the two promos we just heard but we are about to find out. They finally lock up and Douglas gets the upper hand with a shoulder block. They tie up again and Douglas drives Flair into the corner and we get a clean break. Douglas hits Flair with a back elbow to the face and then hits him with a back body drop. Douglas climbs to the top rope and lays in the right hands from the middle rope. Douglas and Flair then trade chops to the chest.
Flair snaps Douglas over and the climbs to the top rope but Douglas ends up body slamming him off the top rope. Douglas then gets Flair in the figure four leg lock right in the middle of the ring. Such a dick move by Douglas but it is awesome. Flair gets to the ropes so Douglas breaks it and starts kicking Flair in the nuts 2-3 times. Flair gets back up and nails Douglas with a vicious chop. Flair then drops down and nails Douglas with a low blow as the ref gets “distracted” by something on the outside. Douglas falls to the outside and Flair goes out after him. Flair just lays in the chops to the chest of Douglas.
Flair whips Douglas into the guard rail. Flair then chops Douglas and he ends up laying down on the commentary table. Flair then lays in the right hands to a laid out Douglas. Flair throws Douglas head first into the ring post and then back into the ring. Douglas catches Flair coming into the ring and Douglas hits him with a suplex. Douglas gets the chain out of his boots, classic Shane Douglas here, and he nails Flair right in the head with the chain. Douglas picks up Flair and hits him with three straight suplexes and on the third one he holds him up with a delayed vertical suplex.
Flair gets up and they exchange right hands and chops. Flair ends up getting the advantage and he pulls him out of the corner and floors him with a nice right hand. Both guys get up again and here we go again with the exchange of chops and rights. Flair decks Douglas again and this time he drops a knee right into the nuts of Douglas. Flair picks up Douglas and bounces off the ropes and kicks Douglas right in the nuts again. Flair bounces off the ropes again and ends up hitting Douglas with a chop block. Flair starts to work over the leg and then he gets Douglas in the figure four leg lock. Out comes Buff Bagwell and he distracts the ref as “Russo” hits Flair in the back with a baseball bat. Douglas rolls Flair up and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall…..Shane Douglas!
After the match Douglas, Bagwell, and Russo attack Flair. Douglas pulls out his chain and wraps it out around his fist and nails Flair right in the nuts with it. Flair gets on the mic and says that Russo is going no where and that he gets his 5 minutes. “Russo” says no but Luger comes out and puts “Russo” into the ring. The real Russo comes down and nails Luger with the bat a few times. The guy in the Sting mask pulls out a statue of liberty souvenir and nails Flair over the head with it. The guy pulls off his mask and it is none other than David Flair! Flair has 5 minutes with Russo.
Russo and David are working over Flair as the Wolfpack music hits again and here comes Kevin Nash! Russo tries to hit Nash with a bat but Nash stops it and Nash goes for a power bomb but Daffney comes out of no where and hits Nash with a low blow. Flair and Nash are left laying as Russo, David Flair, and Daffney celebrate in the ring.
Recap:
After hearing all the years of Douglas calling out Flair, to finally see the match it was a disappointment. It was a day late and a dollar short as the old saying goes. If these two could have gotten it on around 94-95 it would have been amazing but in 2000? No thanks. The match itself wasn’t bad and there was some good action during it. Douglas doing the three amigo’s suplexes was pretty damn awesome. However, the ending was predictable and the stuff with David Flair and Daffney wasn’t very good either. Russo pushed David into Nash and it really made the move look awkward that Nash did to David. The post match stuff was the shock and awe that got old after it happens 6-7 times in a month. The post match takes away from the rest of the match and makes this not very good.
They show a highlight video on the feud between Sting and Vampiro.
Match 8: Sting vs. Vampiro
Before Sting can get to the ring Vampiro comes out after him. Sting nails him with the bat and then a clothesline. Sting then picks up Vampiro and hits him with a suplex on the entrance ramp. Sting then hits Vampiro with an atomic drop. Sting hits Vampiro with a right hand and he gets back into the ring as Sting climbs to the top rope and hits Vampiro with a missile drop kick off the top. Vampiro then goes to the outside of the ring as Sting goes up top and hits a cross body to the outside off the top rope.
They continue to brawl on the outside as Sting rams Vampiro head first into the commentary table. Sting then picks up Vampiro and drops him with a DDT on the outside. They get back in the ring and Vampiro hits Sting with a low blow to slow down the momentum of Sting. Vampiro then hits a brutal chop to Sting and follows that up with a clothesline off the top rope. Vampiro goes out and gets his lead pipe and he ends up nailing Sting in the chest with it. Vampiro continues to work over Sting with the lead pipe.
Vampiro hits Sting with a side kick and then he follows that up with two shots with the pipe to Sting. They go out on the entrance ramp and Vampiro slams Sting face first into the ramp. Vampiro hits a spin kick to the chest of Sting. That was pretty awesome looking. Vampiro ends up clothesline Sting back into the ring and he follows that up with a lead pipe shot to the back. Vampiro lifts Sting up to the top rope and he was going for a hurricanrana but Sting hits him with a low blow and ends up power bombing him off the middle rope. Sting then picks up the lead pipe and nails him 4-5 times with it.
Sting whips Vampiro into the corner and nails him with a Stinger Splash. Sting then picks up the lead pipe and does the Stinger splash again and nails him in the head with the pipe. Sting then picks up Vampiro and hits him with the Scorpion Death Drop and he follows that up with another Scorpion Death Drop. Sting goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall……Sting!
After the match Sting is walking back to the back but he sees Vampiro getting up to his feet in the ring so he turns around and heads back to the ring. Sting comes in and nails Vampiro with a lead pipe and lays him out again.
Recap:
This was a pretty good match. It was short but it was non stop action throughout. The lead pipe came into play a lot but it worked. Sting worked really well and it was awesome to see his high flying moves again. The missile drop kick at the start of the match was nice. Vampiro looked good and he showed off his kicking ability. The spinning kick on the entrance ramp was pretty damn awesome as well. We had a clean finish and no interference and thats a plus considering the last 2 matches had that stuff. All in all a pretty solid match here thats worth checking out at least once.
Backstage Interview: Diamond Dallas Page & David Arquette
Tenay tells David that this could be the end of his acting career tonight at Slamboree. David says he looks good but he’s scared. David said he is going to stick to the plan. DDP says that as long as David sticks tot he plan he will be just fine. DDP tells David to stay out of Jarrett’s way. DDP says if he will stay out of the way he will be fine. He tells him if people interfere then he just needs to get to the top and fend them off but not to grab the belt. DDP then asks him if he’s got it monkey and David says he doesn’t want the belt as they both walk off.
They show Nash walking around backstage looking for somebody. Appears he is looking for Vince Russo but he doesn’t find him.

Hogan follows that up with a clothesline that sends Kidman down the floor on the outside. Hogan grabs a steel chair and Bischoff tells him to put it away but Hogan doesn’t. He ends up picking up Kidman and just dropping him on top of the chair stomach first. That looked like it hurt a little bit. Kidman ends up hitting Hogan with a hurricanrana then a drop kick. Hogan goes to the outside and drags Kidman out with him. Hogan then throws Kidman into the guard rail. We are brawling outside again.
Hogan is going for a right but Kidman grabs a hold of Torrie. Kidman throws Torrie at Hogan then Kidman nails him with a right hand. Hogan gets control of the match and takes off his weight belt and he just lays into Kidman with it. Bischoff steals the belt from Hogan and Hogan confronts him for doing so. Bischoff then hands Kidman the belt and he starts laying it in to Hogan. Kidman struggles to get a hold on Kidman until Hogan eventually hip tosses Kidman over the top rope effortlessly. That was pretty damn awesome.
Hogan works him over outside for a moment then throws Kidman back into the ring. Hogan goes for a cover and Bischoff starts adjusting his shirt instead of counting the three. He grabs a second table and gets that one in the ring as well. Hogan gets both tables set up in the ring.
Hogan goes to put Bischoff through the table but Kidman nails him in the back and then directly in the head to Hogan. Kidman goes for the pin and kicks out at 2. Hogan is now busted open. Bischoff holds up Hogan as Kidman goes for a chair shot but Hogan kicks Kidman in the face then low blows Bischoff. HOGAN POWER BOMBS BISCHOFF THROUGH THE TABLE! He lays Hogan on top of the table and Kidman goes for a splash but Hogan moves out of the way. Hogan goes for the cover and Horace gets in the ring and grabs the hand of Bischoff and counts the three count for Hogan. Your winner by way of pinfall…..Hulk Hogan!
Recap:
This was a somewhat good match here. They used a lot of weapons to hide the fact that theres no reason Hogan should be selling for a guy the size of Kidman. This feud never did make sense but they did their best tonight to make it believable and it turned into an enjoyable match. It is still insane just how over Hogan was because the crowd here just went insane for whatever Hogan did. He raised his right hand and they went crazy. Life would be so easy as a wrestler if everyone could get over like Hogan and do the work he did. Anyways, not a bad match here and one that’s worth checking out. So far, theres really one been one terrible match tonight and with only one to go I a surprised by that number.
They show Russo running out back with Elizabeth. They get in a tour bus but Luger was waiting for hi. Russo then steals a car from someone and gets the hell out of town as they show Nash, who was stalking Russo.

Jarret says tonight is going to be an old fashioned game of chutes and ladders and after tonight they are going to be flossing with Jarretts shoe laces. Jarrett tells him to choke on that as we head to Michael Buffer standing in the ring.

Jarrett tries to climb out of the cage but Page hits a sit down power bomb on Jarrett to lay him out. Page sets up the ladder and whips Jarrett into it twice and he goes for a third but Jarrett reverses it and throws Page into the ladder. Jarrett picks up the ladder and drops it on to Page. Jarrett goes out and gets a second ladder in to the ring. They go back and forth and try to get out of the cage but neither man succeeds. Page hangs on to the cage and kicks the ladder over where Jarret falls on to the entrance ramp and into the camera guy. DDP finally gets up the ladder and gets into the second cage of the three tier cage. This is the hardcore cage where all the weapons are stashed and awaiting the guys.
DDP gets the bolt cutters and cuts open the lock to open up the door. Jarrett takes a chair and lays DDP out with it as he leaves the second cage. Jarrett is climbing up to the third cage until DDP comes out and pulls him off the cage. They get back into the cage and Jarrett nails DDP with a plastic serving tray and it just shatters on impact. Awesome then grabs Kanyon and launches him off the top of the cage. Kanyon is laid out as Awesome climbs up to celebrate with Jarrett as the show goes off the air.
Recap:
This was a pretty entertaining match here. The action was non stop and some of the spots were good. Getting up to the second tier of the cage made the guys limited but they did their best with what they had. The table spot was pretty sweet as well. The finish was surprising I guess but when you do the swerve earlier in the show as well as 2-3 times a week on Nitro it kind of loses it appeal. Thats really the only thing that sucked about the finish. Mike Awesome launching Kanyon off the cage is one of the more memorable moments in wrestling and one that everyone has seen at least once. What a crazy ass bump to take here. All in all a pretty solid ending to a pretty good show.
Show Recap:
Most people, and rightfully so, trash WCW 2000 for what it was. I’m not here to tell you that they are all wrong and that this was actually a good part of the show. However, going back and rewatching some of the things that took part during this period isn’t all that bad. This show is one of the things that is actually decent about this period. Most of the matches had clean endings and none of the outside interference shenanigans that Russo is known for. The only bad match on this card was the hardcore title match between Norman Smiley and Funk. They just did the same stupid stuff over and over for 10 minutes and called it a night. The Ralphus stuff wasn’t funny at all and it was just an overall brutal match.
The rest of the card delivered and the crowd was awesome throughout. This isn’t a classic PPV by any means but it’s definitely worth checking out at least once. I almost guarantee that you will find at least one match that you will enjoy.
Well that about does it for this edition of the CrazyMax Event Center. I hope you enjoyed our trip down the debacle that is known as WCW 2000. This won’t be the last time that we take this trip but it will be for a little while. Anyways, thanks for visiting the site and thanks for reading the one and only CrazyMax Event Center!
