This time we are going back to another memorable night involving Hulk Hogan. Thats right we are going back to WCW 2000 and we are going to the beach. Russo has his hands all over this show so hard telling what the hell is going to happen. So lets stop waiting and lets get this thing going.

Miller tells Smooth to go get the Filthy Animals and the MIA and to tell them not to interfere in the Cruiserweight title match. We get right to the action as the Filthy Animal’s music hits.
Match 1: WCW Cruiserweight Title Match: Juventud Guerrera (c) vs. Lt. Loco
Konnan gets on the mic and does his normal gimmick. Disco is following up what Konnan is saying. He says they got things to see and people to get filthy on as Loco’s music hits. The Animals and the Misfits were supposed to be banned from ringside but they are all out there. Rection is stealing Loco’s heat early on here. Refs come out and get the stable mates out of here as we get this one going. Loco gets the control early with some atomic drops and then a clothesline over the top rope.
Juvi climbs up the ramp and says that Loco hit him in his balls so he is taking a breather. Loco goes out after Juvi but Juvi slips into the ring and tries to suplex Loco back into the ring but he blocks it and Loco suplexes Juvi to the outside. Loco then does a spring board maneuver on to Juvi and ends up throwing him back in the ring. Juvi grabs Loco and drives him into the corner to get control of the match.
Juvi walks away from Loco and Loco ends up dropping him with multiple clotheslines and then a backbreaker for a 2 count. Loco slows it down with an arm bar in the middle of the ring. Loco hits a head scissors take over and then a power slam for another 2 count. Juvi goes for a big splash in the corner but Loco moves out of the way. They both hit the ropes and they hit a double clothesline and take each other out.
Both guys get up at an 8 count and they exchange right hands. Juvi gets a go behind but Loco sends him flying to the outside. Loco quickly goes to the top and hits a cross body to the outside on top of Juvi. The animals then come out wearing masks and it distracts Loco so Juvi gets a roll up for a 2 count. Juvi ends up nailing a sling shot leg drop to the outside on top of Loco. That was pretty damn awesome there.
Juvi gets Loco back in the ring and he drops him with a press slam. Juvi then does a sling shot splash for a 2 count. Juvi goes to the top rope but Loco gets up and stops him. Juvi goes for a sunset flip and ends up dropping Loco with a running power bomb for a 2 count. Juvi botches a front suplex type move and he ends up going for a peoples elbow and hits it for a 2 count.
The Misfits come out in masks this time around and it distracts the refs. Major Gunns ends up coming out and distracts Juvi by ripping off her shit. Loco ends up racking Juvi on the top rope. We get a couple of reversals and Loco hits a reverse suplex for a near 3 count. Loco then picks up Juvi and we get some more reversals into Juvi hits the Juvi driver but Loco gets his foot on the ropes at 2 1/2. Loco hits the spinning tornado DDT off the middle rope and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner and new WCW Cruiserweight Champion….Lt. Loco!
Recap:
This was a pretty solid opener. Both guys busted their ass and put on a pretty entertaining match. The mask shit between MIA and the Animals was stupid as hell but whatever it’s Russo. Nothing really sticks out about this match but it was a good opener and a good way to open up the show. Can’t complain so far.
Backstage Segment: Ernest Miller & Jung Dragons Talk. Jeff Jarrett interrupts
Miller says that this is over. Miller says that they are great and that they did a good job. Jeff Jarrett then interrupts this and asks where the hell Hogan is at. Jarrett says he came here to cripple and finish Hogan and not to lay on the bench. Miller says that he isn’t here yet but he will be and that Miller can promise him that.
They show Vito attacking Terry Funk from Thunder.
Match 2: WCW Hardcore Title Match: Big Vito vs. Norman Smiley/Ralphus
Vito says that the fans now have an Italian champion to cheer for. Vito says he was supposed to fight Johnny the Bull and then Terry Funk. Vito says they beat the hell out of each other on Thunder so they aren’t here. Vito then tells them to send the guys out. It is none other than Norman Smiley and Ralphus. Vito then asks Norman if they want a shot at the title. Vito says that he is the champion and he is a fighting champion so that he will make it a handicap match and he is going to kick their stank asses.
Vito goes out after Ralphus and immediately drops him with a stick ball bat. He then works over Norman with a kendo stick. Vito then drags Norman to the backstage area and Norman ends up bashing Vito with a trash can and then splits a board over the head of Vito. Ralphus shows up and just nails Vito with multiple trash can shots to the head of Vito. Norman does the big wiggle on Vito and then irish whips him into a fork lift. Ralphus starts wearing Vito out with a trash can lid. Ralphus tries to play a game with the lid and Vito just punches it right into his face.
Vito ends up nailing Norman with a trash can lid to the head. Norman is trying to get into an elevator but Vito drops him with a right hand. Vito then rams Norman into the walls of the elevator. The door shuts with Norman in the elevator. That leaves us Vito with Ralphus. Vito gets Ralphus into the ring and just puts the boots to him. Vito then lays a trash can lid on the nuts of Ralphus and he nails it with a baseball bat. That didn’t look like it felt good.
Vito ends up bringing out the table and he puts it in the ring. Vito sets it up in the ring and he lays Ralphus on the table. Vito then goes to the top rope and hits a splash off the top rope to Ralphus. Vito goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner and still WCW Hardcore Champion….Big Vito!
Recap:
This was your typical hardcore match. Just a bunch of lazy maneuvers that didn’t really amount to anything. There was no heat and nothing else really. Ralphus was disgusting and a waste of money if you ask me. Vito was a pretty damn good Hardcore champion and they were actually building him up as a bad ass. But like most things WCW they overbooked the shit out of it and ruined one of the better things they had going on their shows. Anyways, thats neither here nor there but this match kind of sucked and it is a waste of time if you ask me.
They show Goldberg arriving at the building and he has Scott Hall’s contract in his pocket.
Backstage Interview: Kevin Nash
Gene says that the career of Scott Hall is in the hands of Nash. Nash says that it is no secret that he hasn’t been himself lately, or his wise ass self he should say, because there is a bald headed prick named Goldberg running around with his best friends contract over his head. Nash said last week when they aired the footage of the time they had together and he realized how much fun they had. Nash says there is no way he is going to let that end. Nash says that he is Goldbergs only real defeat and Goldberg knows that he can do it again. Nash says that when he Jackhammers Goldberg’s ass in the middle of the ring he may have to do a survey. Nash says we all know how much those things piss you off as Nash walks off.
They show a highlight vide of the feud between Ms. Hancock and Daffney.
Match 3: Wedding Gown Match: Ms. Hancock vs. Daffney
This match starts with David Flair and Hancock kissing and Flair copping a feel of that ass. Daffney gets in the ring and she is devastated. Daffney then drops Flair with a low blow. Daffney gets on top of Hancock and rams her head into the mat. Flair ends up grabbing the head of Daffney as Hancock lays in the boots to Daffney. Hancock does her handspring back elbow into the corner. Hancock then shakes her ass right in the face of Daffney. Daffney then snap mares Hancock over twice.
David and the ref separate both of them. They tie up then the ref and Flair separate them again. Hancock then takes off the pants of Mark Johnson as Daffney drops the drawers of David Flair. Daffney punches Flair right in the nuts and drops him again. Daffney then takes the head of Hancock and drops it right in the nuts of David Flair. Hancock then grabs the gown of Daffney as they run around the ring.
David gets in the ring again and grabs Daffney as they are about to shave her head. Crowbar comes out of no where and drops David Flair with a belly to back suplex. Crowbar sees everyone else pant less so he decides to take his pants off as well. Crowbar then hits Flair with a nice front suplex that finishes off David Flair. Hancock ends up grabbing a microphone and tells everyone to wait. She says she knows what everyone wants to see. Hancock then takes off her skirt and starts dancing. And man she is looking hot as hell. However, since Hancock took her skirt off on her own Daffney is the winner of this match.
Hancock is still dancing when Daffney gets some of the cake and ends up throwing it in the face of Ms. Hancock. Crowbar and Flair then get into the wedding cake. Hancock grabs a big piece of the cake and ends up throwing it on Daffney. All four people are brawling over the wedding cake until Flair and Hancock head out.
Recap:
There really is nothing to say about this shit fest of a segment. This is Russo getting his jolly’s off in the back and nothing more. Sex sells for Russo and thats all this is. Nothing really to see here except the hotness of Stacy Keibler.
They show the Cat walking through the hall way when the Japanese music starts again as the Jung Dragons show up as they are hiding in dumpsters, behind brooms, and in a laundry cart. What the hell is going on?
Match 4: WCW Tag Team Title Match: Perfect Event (c) vs. Kronik
Adams and Palumbo start this one off. Adams ends up throwing Palumbo to the outside. Stasiak comes in and he gets bench pressed and thrown over the top on to Palumbo. He just tossed him like he was 50 pounds. My goodness Brian Adams was impressive. We get back in the ring and Clarke and Stasiak are in the ring this time around. Clarke ends up flipping Palumbo off and pissing him off and that was great. Clarke grabs Stasiak by the throat and throws him into the corner and starts laying in the kicks and chops to get control of the match.
Stasiak goes to the middle rope and goes for a move but Clarke catches him and gets him in a uranage suplex. Clarke tags in Adams and they hit Stasiak with a double shoulder block. Stasiak is able to tag in Palumbo and he comes in charging at Adams and he ends up catching him with a full nelson slam. These guys are just awesome. Stasiak ends up whipping Adams into the ropes but Palumbo is holding on to it and Adams goes up and over to the outside. Palumbo whips Adams into Stasiak and he hits him with a clothesline. Palumbo then picks up a chair and nails Adams in the back with it. The Perfect Event have control of this one.

Adams then dumps Stasiak to the outside with a clothesline. Clarke goes for the Melt Down but Palumbo drops down and drops Clarke with a DDT. Stasiak gets in and he drops Clarke and Adams with clotheslines and drop kicks. Stasiak hits a nice clothesline off the apron to Clarke on the outside. They get back in the ring as Palumbo and Stasiak double team Clarke.
They hit Clarke with a flap jack for a 2 count but Adams gets in the ring and tosses Palumbo out of the ring. Adams ends up hitting Stasiak with a TKO type move to get him laid out. Adams gets tagged in and he ends up dropping Palumbo off the apron. They then hit Stasiak with a double boot in the corner. Clarke and Adams end up hitting High Times on Stasiak and they go for the cover but Palumbo breaks it up. They then get High Times on Palumbo. Stasiak gets the Lex Flexer but they block that. Adams then picks up Stasiak in a power bomb position as Clarke clothesline him off the top rope. Stasiak lands right on the back of his neck as Adams goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3. Your winners and new WCW Tag Team Champions….Kronik!
Recap:
This match was nothing special but man Kronik was freakin awesome. Some of the moves they did to these guys was ridiculous and their power was insane. Adams could gorilla press anyone with ease and its remarkable. That power bomb at the end of the match was just crazy as well and Stasiak sold it like a champ. One thing about Kronik was they were super over by the crowds. They could do anything and the crowd would pop for them and thats pretty remarkable. Really not a classic match here but some of the moves and just the crowd reaction to Kronik is worth checking out here.
We get the Japanese music again with the Cat in his office on the phone. Jeff Jarrett shows up again and says that Hogan better show or he is going to start screwing with the Cat’s show. Recap:
This was a pretty good match here. Booker was super over with this crowd and it was pretty awesome to see. Kanyon did his typical offense that was off the wall but it really worked. Booker looked a lot more aggressive than he normally was and again it made this match pretty damn good. The outside interference by Jeff Jarrett kind of sucked but I’m sure this one be the last time we see this two on this card. I would recommend checking this one out because it is a damn good match.
Backstage Interview: Mike Awesome
Awesome is hitting on the fat woman that is there to sing away the career of Hulk Hogan. Pamela Paulshock ends up showing up and causes the fat lady to leave much to the chagrin of Mike Awesome. Paulshock wants to know what Awesome thinks about his US Title match. Awesome says that he has beat Steiner twice already and tonight he will make it a trifecta. Awesome then tells Paulshock that just because she can’t be as hot as the fat lady that doesn’t mean she has to be jealous of her.

After the match Steiner attacks the Cat from behind and drops him with a forearm. Steiner then goes into the ring and drops Mike Awesome with a brutal looking t-bone suplex.
Recap:
This was another good match here. Mike Awesome had some pretty good offense and the suplexes that Steiner threw on the bigger Mike Awesome were just ridiculous as well. That T-Bone after the match was just brutal and could have really done some damage. The Cat stripping Steiner of the title kind of sucked but I get what they were trying to do. I loved the loose cannon type feel of this version of Scott Steiner. It was really built that he was capable of doing anything and he didn’t give a shit for the repercussions. Just a great gimmick and this was a really good match here.
Match 7: Graveyard Match: Vampiro vs. The Demon
They show the Demon showing up at the grave yard where he is holding some sort of torch and is looking for Vampiro. Demon shows up to a casket band they open it up but nobody was in there. Vampiro then tries to drown the Demon in the water. Both guys end up getting out of the water as they continue to brawl in the grave yard. What a stupid ass match and a stupid ass concept. Vampiro rams the Demon head first into the ground as Vampiro gets out of the water and drags Asya with him. The Demon then starts chasing Vampiro down again.
He finds Asya laid out on the ground. Demon checks on Asya as Vampiro opens up the casket and sprays mist in his face. Vampiro then asks the Demon if he is going to live or die and if he is going to join him. The Demon says never. Vampiro then picks up a concrete block and says if you can’t beat me you should have joined me and then Vampiro nails him with the concrete block. Vampiro then stuffs the Demon into a casket and then dumps him in a burial site. Vampiro then takes the torch and throws it into the open grave as he spits on the casket and walks off. Your winner of the match….Vampiro!
Recap:
Well, the streak is over with after that one. What a stupid ass concept and a stupid ass match. It was nothing more than the Demon chasing down Vampiro and thats about it. They did nothing out there and was a complete waste of time. Therefore, I am not going to waste my time talking about it. Skip that shit at all costs.
Backstage Interview: Shane Douglas
Gene says tonight we are going to find out who carried who and who has the upper hand. Douglas says that in this sport there are few guarantees and there are few things you can chuck down and say at the end of the night things will be exactly as you guaranteed them to be or expect them to be. Douglas says he has made few guarantees in this sport but he will make this one and that is the fact that Buff is a good wrestler but he is not better than a Franchise. Douglas says tonight they will get in the ring and they will fight like two gladiators. Douglas says they can mark down on their calendars and mark it down as a guarantee by the Franchise. Douglas says he can do that because he is the Franchise and he is that damn good. Guaranteed.
Match 8: Shane Douglas vs. Buff Bagwell
They start the match off with a stare down as both guys talk shit to each other. Shane slaps Buff but Buff retaliates with some right hands and then a drop kick that sends Shane to the outside. Buff goes out after Shane and he ends up throwing him into the guard rail and follows that up with some boots to the side of Douglas. Douglas ends up getting the control by hitting Buff with a low blow and then dropping him throat first on the guard rail.
Douglas then picks up the padded mats and goes for a pile driver on the outside but Buff blocks it and hits a back drop on Douglas. We get back in the ring and Buff ends up hitting Douglas with a boot and then a swinging neck breaker. Douglas ends up rolling to the outside to get a little bit of a rest. Buff goes up to the middle rope and is going for the block buster but Torrie ends up getting on the apron and grabbing the leg of Buff. Buff pushes Torrie off the apron as Douglas grabs Buff and drops him with an atomic drop and then a jaw breaker move. Douglas goes for the cover and gets the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall….Shane Douglas!
After the match Torrie Wilson gets in the ring and joins Shane Douglas. They kiss and then leave the ring together as Mark Madden marks out on commentary.
Recap:
This match was decent and part of that is because there wasn’t enough time in the match for it to start sucking. Torrie coming out and joining the Franchise was pretty good and added a nice element to the end of the match. Douglas bringing out his jaw breaker finish for the first time was pretty sweet as well. This was a pretty good match here and one that I enjoyed. However, that could be because i am a big fan of Shane Douglas. If you take that out of it this match is probably just okay but I would give it a shot if you get the chance.
They show Hulk Hogan in the building walking out for his match with Jeff Jarrett. He doesn’t look to happy and I wonder why.

Jeff then says wait and see slappy.
They show a highlight video of the feud between Hulk Hogan and Jeff Jarrett.
Match 9: WCW World Heavyweight Title Match: Jeff Jarrett (c) vs. Hollywood Hogan
I guarantee Michael Buffer’s introductions are going to be longer than this one. Russo ends up coming out with Jeff Jarrett, hmm I wonder what that is all about. Hogan grabs the mic from Buffer and cuts a promo on Jarrett. Hogan says that Jarrett is the Chosen One because Hogan chose him to get his ass power bombed for his boy Kevin Nash. Hogan then tells Hogan to get Jarretts ass down here. Jarrett is standing up at the entrance ramp. Jarrett walks down and is about to get into the ring but Hogan keeps him away.
Jarrett finally gets in the ring and just lays down in the middle of the ring after the bell rings. Russo is on the apron telling Hogan to pin him. Russo shows the belt to Hogan and Hogan just looks pissed off as hell in the ring. Russo then throws the world title to the feet of Hulk Hogan. Hogan then asks for the microphone again. Hogan gets on the mic and asks Russo if this is his idea. Hogan then says that this is why this company is in the shape that it is in because of bullshit like this. Hogan puts his boot on Jarrett and he gets the 1-2-3. Your winner and new WCW World Heavyweight Champion….Hollywood Hogan?
After the match they quickly cut to ringside where Tony says we just saw a slice of real life. They are pushing the fact that this wasn’t a part of the show. Tony says they don’t know what to say or how to explain what is going on. Tony says there are swerves and then there are swerves and we have all been swerved.
Recap:
I mean there isn’t really much to recap here but Russo doing his typical bullshit. I understand the thought process here but the execution was just bad. Settle the shit in the back and not air out your dirty laundry. It’s just a bad look and makes you look cheap and second rate, which is exactly what WCW was during this time. Just terrible all around.

Backstage Interview: Goldberg
Gene says that Goldbergs personal vendetta against the Outsiders is going to come to an end. Gene says Goldberg has to meet and defeat Kevin Nash. Goldberg doesn’t even talk. Goldberg says its taken every bit of professional decency not to rip up Hall’s contract. Goldberg says the person standing in front of Gene is a more pissed off than he has ever been in his entire life. Goldberg says he wants Nash to suffer and then bash Nash from ring post to ring post. Goldberg says he will rip up the contract right in Nash’s face. Goldberg says that tonight he ends Scott Hall’s career and there is nothing Hall or Nash can do about it.
In Ring Promo: Vince Russo
Russo comes out and cuts a promo on Hogan and what we just saw. Russo says there is only one way for him to do this and thats to tell it like it is. He says 3 weeks ago he left WCW and quite frankly he didn’t know if he was going to come back. Russo said the reason he didn’t know if he was going to come back or not was because from day 1 he has been here he has done nothing but deal with the bullshit of the politics behind the curtain. Russo says that he has a wife and 3 kids at home and he doesn’t need this shit.
Russo says he came back for everyone of the guys in the locker room who bust their ass week in and week out for WCW. He says he came back for Booker T, everyone in MIA, the Animals, Jeff Jarrett, and for guys who give a shit about the company. Russo then says there are guys who don’t give a shit about the company like Hulk Hogan. Russo says that what happened tonight was politics. Russo says all day he was playing politics with Hogan because he wants to play his creative control card. To Hogan, when he knew it was bullshit, he beats Jeff Jarrett.
Russo says Hogan got his wish and got his belt and now he is on his way home. Russo says he promises everyone or else he will go to the grave, that WCW will never see that piece of shit again. Russo says that the fans pay good money and that nobody is going to ripped off here tonight. Russo says the belt Hogan left with is the Hulk Hogan Memorial title because from here on out that belt don’t mean shit. Russo says there will be a new WCW belt and as far as he is concerned that belt still belongs to Jeff Jarrett.
Russo says Jarrett is still the official WCW champion. Russo says Jarrett will defend his belt in the ring and he will go against a guy who has busted his ass for 14 years but can’t get a title shot because of pieces of shit like Hogan. Russo says he is talking about Booker T. Russo says Jarrett and Booker T is the reason he is in this stinking business. Russo then tells Hogan to kiss his ass as he walks off.
They show a highlight video of the feud between Goldberg and Kevin Nash.
Match 10: Scott Hall’s Contract On the Line: Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash
They show Nash coming out to the ring and he asks Scott Steiner to watch his back but Scott Says he is busy with his lady. Nash tells him to get into the game and Scott says he is in his game and this is his game. Before they get going Nash goes to the outside and double checks the contract of Scott Hall. They tie this one up and get it going here. Goldberg drives Nash into the corner and lays in some big right hands to get control early.
Nash gets out of it with a knee lift and then a nice elbow to the back of the head. We get some knees to the gut of Goldberg and then a nice back elbow from Nash. Nash chokes out Goldberg with his boot but Goldberg ends up holding on and bringing Nash out to the middle of the ring and trips him. Goldberg then hits a nice suplex on Nash for a two count. Goldberg ends up hitting a nice side kick on Nash and then Goldberg looks at the hard camera and says fuck you.
Nash ends up picking up Goldberg and dropping him with a choke slam. Scott Steiner ends up coming to the outside and is cheering on Nash. Goldberg gets a head lock on Nash as Scott puts the contract of Hall in the face of Nash. Goldberg gets hit with a big boot and then a side slam by Nash for a 2 count. Goldberg gets up and goes for a spear but Nash gets out of the way and Goldberg crashes into the middle turnbuckle.
Nash drops the singlets and is about to drop Goldberg with a power bomb but Scott Steiner gets in the ring and attacks Nash. Nash ends up hitting a big boot on Steiner and then Goldberg drops Nash with a spear. Goldberg then picks up Nash and nails him with a jackhammer for the 1-2-3. Your winner by pinfall….Goldberg!
After the match Scott Steiner and Goldberg embrace and then Goldberg rips up Hall’s contract right in Nash’s face as Scott Steiner gets Nash in the Steiner Recliner.
Recap:
This match was garbage and sucked. The Steiner swerve at the end was typical and expected because it’s Russo. Speaking of that he did this exact same ending 2-3 matches again during the Buff Bagwell/Shane Douglas match. Then you turn around and do it again. What an idiot Russo was. The more you do something the less effective it is. Nobody cares about the swerve anymore when you do it 5-6 time a night. All in all this sucked and definitely worth skipping.
Backstage Interview: Booker T
Gene says this is one of the most emotional evenings he has experienced in WCW. Booker says this all comes to a surprise to him. Booker says opportunity has knocked and he will be damned if he doesn’t answer. Booker says he will do what he has to do to take that WCW belt home with him now can you dig that?
Match 11: WCW Heavyweight Title Match: Jeff Jarrett (c) vs. Booker T
Michael Buffer is back for those 5 minute entrances. Anyways, we start this one off with a tie up. We get a feeling out period more than anything as this one has yet to really get going. Jarrett ends up getting hit with a nice drop kick by Booker and this sends Jarrett to the outside to get a breather as Booker keeps reversing everything he is trying to do. Jarrett fakes a test of strength and then starts laying in the right hands to Booker T to get control of the match.
Booker ends up reversing an irish whip and ends up dropping Jarrett with a Harlem side kick. Jarrett goes to the outside and Booker goes out after him as he hits him with an ax handle off the apron and then throws Jarrett into the guard rail. Both guys then brawl amongst the fans. Booker ends up slamming Jarrett right into the concrete wall at the back of the building. They are going all around this building just dragging each other. They finally get back ring side and Jarrett hits Booker with a chair to the back. Jarrett then gets Booker on the broadcast table and ends up pile driving him into the table.
We finally get this one back in the ring as Jarrett starts laying in the boots to Booker T. Jarrett then gets Booker in a sleeper hold to get a little bit of a rest here. Booker breaks out with the elbows to the gut and then whips Jeff into the corner but Jeff gets his boot up and stops Booker and then he gets him in a sleeper again. Booker pushes off and gets Jarrett in a sleeper of his own but Jarrett ends up reversing that with a knee breaker.
Jarrett calls for the figure four but Booker ends up reversing it into a roll up for a 2 count. Jarrett then gets the figure four locked in on Booker right in the middle of the ring. Booker ends up reversing the hold but Jarrett gets up first and continues to work the leg of Booker. Jarrett continues to block some right hands and ends up hitting a couple of his own. Booker hits Jarrett with a knee to the gut and then an ax kick. Booker does a spinaroonie to his feet and then drops Jarrett with a spine buster for a 2 1/2 count.
Booker picks up Jarrett and goes for another Harlem side kick but Jarrett moves out of the way and Booker ends up racking himself on the top rope. Jarrett ends up stopping an irish whip and sends Booker back into the corner and he ends up knocking out the ref. Jarrett goes out and grabs the WCW title but Booker blocks the shot with the belt and Booker ends up hitting Jarrett with the belt himself. Booker goes for the cover and gets the 2 count.
Jarrett drops Booker with a low blow and then heads to the outside to grab a chair. Jarrett wedges it into the middle and top rope in the corner. Jarrett goes to ram Booker head first into the chair but Booker blocks it and sends Jarrett into the chair. Booker goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Jarrett then goes over and drops the referee with the Stroke and knocks him out again. What the hell for? Jarrett then kicks Booker in the nuts as he goes out and grabs his guitar. Jarrett climbs to the top rope with the guitar and he comes off but Booker catches him and drops Jarrett with the Book End. Mark Johnson comes out of no where and counts the 1-2-3. Your winner and new WCW World Heavyweight Champion….Booker T!
Recap:
This match was all right. Nothing special going on here but it was good to see somebody like Booker T get a chance. It was pretty awesome seeing him win the title after going through some of the shit he went through later on in WCW. They spent most of the match in amongst the fans doing nothing and that kind of takes away from the match because these two could really go if they wanted to. The only reason to check out this one is to see Booker T finally get the strap, other than that just not a lot here to warrant watching.
Show Recap:
Well this show kind of sucked for the most part. Just to much swerve action going on for my liking and some of these matches just really stunk up the joint. The opener was a pretty good match between Juvi and Chavo but really nothing special going on. They had a couple of stupid ass moments there with the Animals and MIA coming out in masks to try and get out to help out their partner. The hardcore match that went on second wasn’t very good either. It was just your typical hardcore match that doesn’t really hold up very well over time. The more you see them the less appealing they are. Just garbage if you ask me.
The wedding gown match was a comedy bit that is definitely a waste of time and not worth checking out unless you want to see a young Stacy Keibler dancing, which isn’t all that bad. We finally get a pretty decent match with Kronik vs. The Perfect Event. Kronik were a little sloppy but they were freakin awesome and some of the moves they were doing were just ridiculous. The strength and power the guys had was amazing and a sight to see to be honest. They were just awesome to me and still are.
We got a Kanyon vs. Booker T match that was pretty good but the screw job finish kind of sucked. It’s kind of crazy seeing Booker do the job here but end up champ by the end of the night. Thats typical Russo bullshit if you ask me. Mike Awesome vs. Scott Steiner was pretty good as well but it could have been better. It was booked to make Scott look head and shoulders better than Mike Awesome and that shouldn’t have been the case. Steiner dominated and made Awesome look weak but these two should have been on the same plain if you ask me. The finish was kind of shit with Steiner losing by DQ for using the Steiner Recliner. That took away from the match but it was pretty good leading up to that point.
The Graveyard match was terrible and a waste of time. The fact that they had to come back to the arena to get the W was stupid and was again typical Russo bullshit. What kind of bright idea is this? Start in a grave yard then decimate your opponent enough to be able to return to the arena and get in the ring? Right that sounds like a great idea lets do it. I mean really nobody had the balls to tell Russo that this was a dumb idea? Baffles my mind he lasted as long as he did.
Next up was a pretty good match between Buff and Shane Douglas that had a swerve ending with Torrie coming out. She made it look like she was with Buff only to turn on him later on and join Shane. This is all fine and well but when you have plans to do this same shit 2 matches later it doesn’t really make sense. Why waste this shit on Torrie Wilson, of all people, when you are going to have a guy trade on one of his best friends? Makes absolutely no sense and totally defeats the purpose of a swerve. Anyways, this was a decent match that went the right amount of time and didn’t go to long for it to start dragging along.
After that we got the Hogan/Jarrett/Russo stuff that was completely ridiculous. Take care of the shit in the back instead of bringing this out in front of everyone. Like I stated before, it makes you look cheap and second rate and does nothing but harm to you as a company. If Hogan isn’t going to do business then send his ass home and say the card has changed. If people paid to see Hogan then so be it but at least you don’t have to air this shit out. Makes no sense to me that they ran with this on a live pay per view. If somebody bought this show, I would leave it never wanting to buy another one again.
Also, they just did this shit at Halloween Havoc 99 so what good does it to do this again when people probably think its just a work anyway? Russo lives in a world where he thinks people forget shit that happened the week before and that each show is it’s own canvas and you can just start over whenever you want. It doesn’t work that way. You have to long term vision and continuity to your shows and when you don’t get you cluster fucks all over the place and that is the epitome of WCW in 2000. Russo had no vision and was just trying to pop a rating and when he couldn’t do that he just sucked. What a shit bag.
Goldberg and Nash said f this shit and didn’t care at all about going out and doing anything worth while. We got a shitty match with a shitty finish and thats about it for this one. Goldberg did the bare minimum and you could clearly see that Nash just didn’t give a shit. His promo was trash and his work just wasn’t there. I am not saying Nash was the best but he could have done a lot better if he wanted to and he just didn’t care and neither did Goldberg. After what happened to Hogan I don’t think I’d give a shit either.
The main event was a change of pace and refreshing with the guys involved but the match itself just didn’t deliver. They would have a better match at New Blood Rising but for some reason these guys just didn’t mesh very well. Not sure what it was but it just doesn’t work for me. Booker deserved the spot he was in but I am not so sure Jarrett did. The guy never really could go and just lived off a storyline driven program to really enhance his work. If you can get a feud with Jarrett that leads to a gimmick pay off then it works. If you expect him to go out and put on classic matches then its never going to happen. This match was only good because you finally get to see Booker T win the big one and thats great to see.
So that about does it for this episode and thank goodness for that. I usually don’t mind WCW 2000 but for some reason this show just pisses me off. Russo had his hands all over it and it just sucked. Normally there are 2-3 good things during a WCW 2000 show but this really didn’t have any of that. The stuff with Hogan was a joke and should have never happened but, like Macho Man always said, what it is is what it is. Theres really no reason whatsoever to check this show out unless you want to see Russo talk shit on Hogan or see Booker win the big one for the first time. Other than that just skip this garbage.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this episode of the Event Center. Next time we are going to July 1990 and hitting up Saturday Night Main Event prior to SummerSlam.
