– Increasingly cantankerous UFC president Dana White has come out hard against Alistair Overeem lately. In addition to blasting the Dutch heavyweight after his lackluster bout with Frank Mir from UFC 169, White recently called out Overeem via Twitter by revealing to fans that he had declined to accept a bout against former heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos and insinuating that he’s scared of the Brazilian. Overeem recently responded to White (and everyone else who jumped on board), revealing a simple reason for why he’s not in the market for a bout at the moment.
“Twitter going bananas! Not running for anyone, on holiday right now & also rehabbing injuries so not ready to discuss a fight at this time,” Overeem posted.

Overeem rebounded from a two-fight losing streak with the unanimous decision win over Mir. Dos Santos is coming off of a brutal loss to Cain Velasquez in a heavyweight title fight.

– Though it was just recently revealed that Rashad Evans injured his leg and would be forced out of his planned UFC 170 bout with Daniel Cormier next weekend, the UFC has already found a replacement for the Olympic wrestler. Pat Cummins, an All-American wrestler who is undefeated in four pro MMA bouts, will be stepping up to make his UFC debut against the undefeated Cormier. Cummins has finished all of his pro fights, either by TKO or submission. The two light heavyweights faced off previously during their amateur wrestling days and will have another go at it in the UFC 170 co-main event.

-The UFC has announced that the highly anticipated grudge match between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen will no longer be taking place at UFC 173. The two fighters will still be meeting in the cage to settle their long-running feud, but they’ll now be doing it a week later on May 31 in Brazil; a city and venue have yet to be announced. The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 coaches were originally scheduled to face off in the UFC 173 co-main event under Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort.
