List of Top 10 Potential Mystery Entrants for Royal Rumble

Over the last couple weeks people have started to talk. We’ve seen a few different versions of the Royal Rumble list of competitors pop up online. Some have up to 25 names listed, however, WWE.com has only confirmed 20 (21 if you count Bad News Barrett whose name has disappeared from the list).

With several spots remaining, there’s been plenty of discussion as to who some of the mystery entrants in the Royal Rumble will be. Now, there’s no doubt that some of the remaining 10 spots will be filled with current WWE superstars, but here’s a look at some of the recently speculated names.

– Christian: Has been ready to return for some time. Was last seen as part of the group of former World Champions in the ring during the December 2013 Raw to hype the Title unification match.

– Sheamus: Has pretty much been off TV since the injury he sustained at the Money in the Bank PPV. Sheamus had made public posts a month or two back, claiming that his injury rehab was slower than expected, and gave a return timetable of POST Royal Rumble. Many believe this was just to throw people off. The fact that WWE hasn’t even mentioned Sheamus’ name in recent weeks leads me to believe he is a likely candidate for the big returning name this year. It’s also been said by credible sources that Sheamus has been cleared for a return. He will already be in Pittsburgh this weekend for an unrelated event, so the timing is right.

– Jake “The Snake” Roberts: While rehabbing in DDP’s crib, Jake has made no bones about his interest in entering the Royal Rumble match. Jake’s return at Old School Raw also got the fans talking. It’s a potential possibility to see Jake back at the Rumble after his warm reception on Raw. Let’s just hope his recent Warrior tweets didn’t screw this up for him.

– Chris Jericho: Like Sheamus, Jericho will be in Pittsburgh this weekend for an unrelated public appearance. This puts Chris in a position to work the PPV. Jericho recently signed a deal for Fozzy to work a big concert in Columbus, OH so it’s a possibility we get Jericho on a one night only performance as part of the Rumble.

– RVD: Another of the obvious. If the terms are right, we could see RVD back by the Rumble in time for a WrestleMania payday.

– Evan Borne: Cleared for a return and just waiting to be written back in. Given the issues he’s had the past couple of years and the less than outstanding pop he would receive, it’s not likely Evan will be used as a surprise entrant, but never say never.

– Dolph Ziggler: Ziggler is to undergo concussion tests the morning of the Royal Rumble PPV, no doubt in an attempt to work him into a match that he excels in. Should the #heel be cleared, I imagine he will be entering the Rumble match!

– The New Age Outlaws: Not the biggest of surprises, but with Goldust & Cody Rhodes already playing double duty on the show, it’s likely the Outlaws could do the same. Look for the Outlaws to try and eliminate CM Punk, either as legal entrants, or simply running interference on behalf of “The Authority”.

– Daniel Bryan: After working a match with Bray Wyatt, wouldn’t it be an unexpected surprise to see Daniel Bryan draw #30? Or maybe take out Rowan and replace his spot in the match? Wouldn’t you like to see Bryan come from out of nowhere to headline WrestleMania? My answer is Yes! Yes! Yes!

Those are my top 10 likely surprise entrants. As I said, I don’t expect 10 mystery entrants as I suspect guys like Ryback, Cesaro & Swagger will fill some of the currently opened entrant spots. Nevertheless, these are just some of the potential surprises, let’s hope they think outside the box for a REAL surprise!
