The Associated Press has an article up with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar on how he’s done with MMA and has signed a multi-year deal with WWE.

Lesnar confirmed to the AP that his new deal with WWE is for three years. He said WWE increased their financial offer to him at RAW and the whole deal was one he couldn’t refuse. Lesnar said:

“The fighter in me wants to continue, but at this stage in my life, it ain’t just about me anymore. You put your pride to the side. You hug your wife and your kids. I’m a 37-year-old man, and some days I feel like I’m 80, just with all the things I’ve experienced, all the things I’ve done. I feel fortunate about it. It’s like, what else can I do? Why go backward?”

Lesnar said he turned down an offer from UFC worth “10 times” what he was making earlier in his MMA career. UFC Chairman Lorenzo Fertitta also tried to double that deal but Lesnar told him it wasn’t about the money. Lesnar called UFC officials to inform them of the decision as he was pulling into the ESPN studios for his SportsCenter interview.

Lesnar is also looking forward to spending time with his wife and three children. He commented on his career:

“I’m riding the caboose of my sports career. I just barely caught this thing. I’ll see you the next time.”
