– Georges St-Pierre appears cleared and can officially return to training. Now, it’s just a matter of the former UFC welterweight champion deciding to do so. UFC president Dana White cleared up why he was in Canada recently to talk with GSP in an interview for the official site.

“They cleared GSP’s knee,” White said. “After surgery like that it takes about another 30 days before you start to mentally feel right. But he’s in a good spot. His knee just got cleared and he’ll start training again and getting back into shape. He’ll let us know when he’s ready.”

St-Pierre vacated the title last year after defeating current champion Johny Hendricks. Hendricks is scheduled to defend his belt against Robbie Lawler in December at UFC 181.

– Miesha Tate has been selected to drop the green flag to start this Sunday’s Goody’s Headache Relief Shot 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup event in Virginia. The race airs on ESPN at 1:30 p.m. ET as part of the Chase for the Sprint Cup title.

Tate is rumored to be set to fight fellow former No. 1 contender Sara McMann, though nothing has been made official.
