Also known as “Chavo Classic” during his run with the WWE, he debuted in 1970 and performed all over the world with numerous championship title wins to his name.
One of Chavo’s first memorable stints came as part of a lengthy run in the Lebell’s Los Angeles promotion during the mid to late 70’s where Chavo would headline against Roddy Piper in what was arguably both of their first “big breaks” as main eventers. Chavo would go on to hold both singles and tag team gold all over the world over the next two decades.
In 2004, Chavo worked for the WWE in a feud alongside his son Chavo Jr. and his brother Eddie Guerrero. He also won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, becoming the oldest to do so. In 2016, Chavo appeared on Lucha Underground in a feud between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero Jr.
A true pioneer of bringing the lucha style and innovative maneuvers to the United States, Crazy Max sends it’s condolences to the friends, family, and fans of Chavo Guerrero, Sr. RIP
