There have been lots of rumors on social media today stating that UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was taken out of his UFC 187 title fight. MMAWeekly reported earlier today that Jones was removed from the fight, however their source retracted the statement once the story went public and stated that the fight is in jeopardy.

Jones was rumored to have been involved in a car accident this weekend, although incorrect rumors stated that he was taken into custody. Neither the accident nor the arrest could be confirmed. The official Twitter account of the Albuquerque Police department tweeted the following regarding the rumor:

We CANNOT confirm that Jon Jones was involved in a H&R traffic accident from this morning. The investigation is ongoing.

Jones is currently set to defend his title against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson next month at UFC 187. MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani noted that all of Jones’ closest sources hadn’t spoken to him in over 24 hours, while Josh Gross said that coach Greg Jackson was also unable to contact Jones.
