1/28/80 – Memphis, TN. @ The Mid-South Coliseum (Attendance: 5,287)

* Note: On February 1st, 1980, Jerry Lawler would break his leg during a pickup football game that included referee Jerry Calhoun. The King would be sidelined for at least 7 months before his official return to the ring. This would initiate the infamous Jimmy Hart TV interview about “shooting a horse when they break their leg”. Hart basically dumped the King on TV, thus setting Lawler up for a huge baby face run upon his return.

  1. Wrestling in Memphis was a great city for the squared circle. Ever since Jackie Fargo became a fan favorite,that was when it became a place to watch in Tennessee. Since then great local wrestlers of Tennessee started in Memphis, they built the legacy in Memphis. Another great wrestling terroritory to enjoy.
