WWE Battleground Kickoff Show

The WWE Battleground Kickoff Show begins with Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Booker T and Corey Graves on the panel. We are live inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri, the site of tonight’s show.

The panel shoots to Tom Phillips in the social media lounge. Phillips will be joined by Paul Heyman later in the Kickoff Show to answer Twitter questions from the WWE Universe.

We go back to the panel. The four members of the panel begin breaking down the matches on tonight’s pay-per-view, starting by talking about the cancellation of the I-C title match.

 

Crown On The Line
– R-Truth vs. King Barrett

The Kickoff Show panel kicks things down to ringside, where Michael Cole and the gang join us on commentary. Our Kickoff Show match is up next.

R-Truth’s music hits and out he comes. Out next after him is his opponent for tonight, King Barrett. One-on-one action kicks off tonight’s event in St. Louis..

The two exchange offense back-and-forth until finally Barrett settles in with control of the contest. Near the end of the match, Truth hits his Scissors Kick for a close near fall. Seconds later, however, Barrett hits a Winds of Change for a close nearfall. He then blasts Truth with the Bull Hammer Elbow for the 1-2-3.

Winner: King Barrett

 

More Kickoff Show

After the Barrett-Truth match, we head back to the panel and Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Booker T and Corey Graves break down some more of tonight’s matches and air some more video packages hyping up the matches.

WWE Battleground 2015

The 2015 WWE Battleground pay-per-view kicks off with the usual bad-ass video package highlighting tonight’s top few matches.

From there we shoot live into the Scottrade Center in St. Louis where fireworks explode, we see a shot of a packed house, and the announcers welcome us to the 2015 edition of WWE Battleground.

 

Sheamus vs. Randy Orton

We waste no time, as Sheamus’ theme song hits. Mr. Money In The Bank comes out on stage with his briefcase. He poses and then heads to the ring.

After The Celtic Warrior finishes making his way to the ring, we shoot to the announce table for the first time and the announcers throw it to the Spanish announce team for their on-camera introduction.

Finally we get back to the show and Randy Orton’s theme song hits. “The Viper” makes his way out to the ring. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton kicks off WWE Battleground.

As soon as the match begins, Sheamus runs out to the floor. The fans break out in “You Look Stupid! You Look Stupid!” chants. Sheamus returns to the ring and he and Orton finally lock up.

The fans are cheering for Orton, who is dominating the offense here in the early goings. Orton knocks Sheamus out to the floor. Sheamus stays out there a bit to recover. Orton ends up coming out after him and whipping him into a ringside barrier. Orton throws Sheamus back in the ring, but he rolls right back out to the other side.

Sheamus and Orton start trading uppercuts in the middle of the ring. Orton gets the upperhand. Sheamus cuts him off. Sheamus hits the Irish Curse backbreaker. He hits two more backbreakers. Sheamus now appears to be in firm control of the match. Sheamus dominates Orton for a while until Orton blocks a White Noise attempt and clotheslines Sheamus out to the floor. Orton slams Sheamus on an announce table outside the ring.

Orton blocks a Brogue Kick attempt from Sheamus and counters it into a powerslam for a near fall. Sheamus goes for the forearms on the apron spot but Orton blocks it. Orton blocks another Brogue Kick and then Sheamus blocks an RKO attempt. Sheamus blasts Orton with White Noise for a near fall. Eventually, Orton nails Sheamus with the RKO out of nowhere for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Randy Orton

Backstage: Stephanie McMahon & JoJo

Backstage, Stephanie McMahon is with JoJo. Stephanie says we haven’t seen anything yet in regards to the NXT Divas debuting on RAW. She says she asked each team to pick a representative and those three Divas will compete in a Triple Threat match on tonight’s show. She says she will not accept anything less than a Divas Revolution tearing down the house tonight.

 

WWE Tag-Team Championship
– The New Day vs. The Prime Time Players (c)

We head back to the ring and out comes Xavier Woods, Big E. and Kofi Kingston. The trio cuts a promo on the way to the ring as usual. Out next are their opponents for tonight, the WWE Tag-Team Champions — The Prime Time Players, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young.

Young and Kingston kick things off for their respective teams. Tag-Team title action is up next here at WWE Battleground. Kingston and Big E end up utilizing a lot of quick tags to keep fresh guys in the match. Woods is yelling like a lunatic loudly at ringside throughout a lot of the action.
The finishing sequence sees Big E. come in and try and hit Young with The Big Ending, however Young blocked it. Kingston then missed with a Trouble In Paradise kick and Young ended up hitting the Gut Check, sending Kingston to the floor. O’Neil then hit the Clash Of Titans on Big E. for the 1-2-3. The Prime Time Players retain the gold.

Winners and STILL WWE Tag-Team Champions: The Prime Time Players

Backstage: Paige, Becky Lynch & Charlotte

We shoot backstage to Paige, who is with Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Paige talks about tonight being the Divas Revolution. Lynch says Stephanie wants them to tear down the house, but they’re going to do one better — they’re going to tear it down and then re-build it. Lynch says they’re even putting the WWE Superstars on notice. Charlotte ends the segment by saying they’re going to do all of this, “with a flare (Flair).”

 

Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns

We head back into the Scottrade Center where the lights go out. The firefly phone lights come on and out comes Bray Wyatt with his latern. Out next is his opponent for tonight, Roman Reigns. Reigns makes his way through the crowd as usual and heads to the ring. It’s time for our next match here at WWE Battleground.

Reigns and Wyatt lock up as the bell sounds. Reigns backs Wyatt up and they break. Reigns’ power is out-doing Wyatt early on, however it doesn’t take long before Wyatt is in control of the offense. Wyatt with some strong right hands and then a big clothesline. Wyatt is stomping away at Reigns now as Reigns is on the mat, down and out.

Reigns is back up and he ducks a big shot before hitting a big clothesline of his own. Reigns knocks Wyatt out to the floor. Reigns follows Wyatt out to the floor and slams him into a barricade.

They get back in the ring and now Wyatt is in control of the action. Reigns nails Wyatt with some big forearms. Wyatt misses with a big clothesline attempt. Wyatt knocks Reigns down with a flying forearm of his own.

Wyatt chokes Reigns on the bottom rope and beats him up in the corner. Reigns starts fighting back, including hitting a big Samoan drop that sent Wyatt out to the floor to recover. Reigns chases him outside the ring and they run around and finally back into the ring.

Wyatt catches Reigns with a big splash in the corner to slow things down. Wyatt taunts the fans as Reigns is down now. Wyatt sends Reigns out to the floor. Wyatt hits Reigns with a DDT on the apron.

Wyatt ends up blocking a Superman punch attempt from Reigns and counters it with a Sister Abigail attempt, however Reigns blocked that as well. The two are in the ring now and Wyatt blocks yet another Superman punch attempt. He blasts Reigns with a side-slam for a two-count.

The two battle back-and-forth more a bit and then Reigns blocks another Sister Abigail attempt with a roll up, however Wyatt kicks out at two. The fans start breaking out into “This Is Awesome!” chants as the action continues. Reigns is waiting for the Spear now but Wyatt catches him coming in with a boot. Reigns goes for a Samoan Drop but Wyatt blocks it. The action spills out to the floor where Wyatt sends Reigns into the barricade.

Wyatt grabs a steel chair from ringside. Reigns blasts Wyatt with a big punch, which causes him to drop the chair. Reigns throws chairs in the ring but the referee is yelling at him. Reigns turns around to a hooded man at ringside who drops him. Wyatt rolls Reigns back in the ring and hits him with a Sister Abigail for the 1-2-3.

After the match, the hooded man enters the ring. He reveals himself to be Luke Harper. The two pose as Wyatt’s music plays. It looks like the beginning of a Wyatt Family reunion.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Backstage: Sasha Banks, Naomi & Tamina with JoJo

Backstage, JoJo is with Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina. They reveal the fact that they have chosen Sasha Banks to represent them in the Divas triple-threat match that Stephanie McMahon made earlier tonight. Naomi talked about how they were all on the same page.

 

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte vs. Brie Bella

We head to the ring and out comes NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks without her title. Out next is the trio of Paige, Becky Lynch and Charlotte. We find out that they have selected Charlotte to represent them. Finally, out comes Team Bella — Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. We find out Brie Bella will be representing them.
Our Divas triple-threat match as part of the Divas Revolution begins now, with Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Brie Bella representing their respective trios.

Nikki Bella shows off her WWE Divas Championship as the fans chant NXT. Charlotte gets in Nikki’s face and the fans do the “Woo!” thing. Sasha talks some trash now as well. Nikki heads out to the floor. Brie comes in.

Brie and Sasha double-team Charlotte to kick off the match. Banks then rolls Brie up for a pinfall attempt. Charlotte then rolls up Banks. Sasha is down now and Brie and Charlotte start going at it. Banks re-enters the mix and blasts both of them with knees in the corner. Banks tries pinning them both at the same time but only gets two.

Charlotte ends up taking control of the offense single-handedly, taking out both Banks and Brie and then hitting a series of trademark moves such as the Flair chops. Banks ends up fighting her way back into the match as well.

Brie starts making her comeback finally and the fans in St. Louis start boo’ing like crazy, as they are clearly in support of the two NXT Divas in this contest.

The three exchange a number of quick, finishing-sequence type moves when finally Banks applies the Bank Statement on Charlotte. Brie breaks it up and slams Banks into the ring post. Charlotte ends up getting Brie in the Figure Eight. Brie taps out.

After the match, Charlotte celebrates with Becky Lynch and Paige as her music plays and the fans cheer.

Winner: Charlotte

 

WWE United States Championship
– Kevin Owens vs. John Cena (c)

After the video package airs to tell the story of the Cena-Owens feud, Kevin Owens’ music hits and the former NXT Champion makes his way to the ring. Out next to his usual reaction is the WWE United States Champion John Cena.

The formal introductions are done for this title match and both Owens and Cena are ready. WWE United States Championship action is next at WWE Battleground. Both guys are exchanging offensive control early on, but when the smoke clears, it’s Owens who is dominating the action here aganist the current WWE U.S. champ.

Cena starts fighting back. He hits the Canadian Destroyer for a pinfall attempt. Cena goes back to the top for the leg drop but Owens catches him with a sitdown powerbomb. Cena comes back and hits an Attitude Adjustment out of nowhere, however Owens manages to kick out at two. Cena takes Owens to the top rope but Owens counters and hits Cena with a superplex for a two count of his own. Cena is selling his shoulder after the superplex spot.

Owens has been yelling at Cole a lot through this match. The ref is checking on Cena while Owens yells at Cole this time. He tells Cole to “watch this” as he goes for his Pop-Up Powerbomb finisher, however Cena counters it. Owens hits Cena with his own Attitude Adjustment and then locks Cena in his own STF submission hold. Cena finally makes it to the ropes to force a break.

Cena and Owens then go on a rampage exchanging each others finishing moves and their own until we finally get to the finish, which sees Cena lock Owens in the STF. Owens crawls to the ropes but Cena yanks him back out. Owens finally taps out.

After the match, Cena’s music hits and he celebrates with the U.S. title. Owens is stumbling around as the ref is trying to help him, but Owens pushes the ref and walks off. We see some replays of some of the action during the match and that’s about it.

Winner and STILL WWE United States Champion: John Cena

 

In-Ring Segment: The Miz & Big Show

The announcers discuss Ryback’s injury and the fact that there will not be a triple-threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Battleground tonight as planned.

Instead out comes The Miz. The fans boo. Miz gets to the ring and gets on the mic. He talks trash for a while about Ryback, calling him weak and saying he’s not even injured.

Miz then switches his focus to Big Show. Miz mocks Big Show and says he’s been worthless for years and hasn’t been useful since the Attitude Era.

Finally, Big Show’s music hits. Miz pleads with him to team up and beat up Ryback together. Big Show, without saying a word, simply walks in the ring, blasts Miz with one KO punch, and walks back out.

 

WWE World Heavyweight Championship
– Brock Lesnar vs. Seth Rollins (c)

The video package for tonight’s main event between Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship plays. Our 2015 WWE Battleground main event is up next.

After the video package, we head back inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis where we return to the ring. Out first comes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins by himself.
Out next is the challenger, Brock Lesnar, who comes to the ring accompanied by his advocate, Paul Heyman. Lilian Garcia does the formal introductions for our WWE title main event.

The “Suplex City” chants fire up immediately before the match is even underway. Finally, the bell sounds and here we go. Like a bull let out of its’ cage, Lesnar bum-rushes Rollins and bullies him back into the corner. Lesnar slams his shoulder into Rollins repeatedly. Lesnar goes for his first trip to Suplex City, however Rollins escapes and ducks out to the floor.

When Rollins comes back in, Lesnar again goes for some suplexes, but Rollins keeps finding ways to avoid them. Finally, Lesnar goes for an F-5, but Rollins escpaes. However, Lesnar does manage to hit his first German suplex of the match. And another. And another. The fans are starting to count how many times Lesnar takes Rollins to Suplex City now.

Lesnar seems to be in firm control of the offense now, as he is brutalizing Rollins and every once in a while, taking him to Suplex City again. The fans are keeping track each time he does it. As of right now, Lesnar has taken Rollins to Suplex City an incredible 13 times.

Lesnar nails a F5 and covers but The Undertaker’s bells toll. The lights go out and when they come back on, The Undertaker is standing in the ring staring at Lesnar. They trade counters and Taker hits a chokeslam and then a Tombstone. Fans chant Taker’s name as he goes to leave the ring. He comes back in and hits another Tombstone as Heyman looks on. Fans want one more but Taker drops to one knee and does his signature pose as his music hits and the lights go out. Taker makes his way towards the back and stops to raise one fist in the air as the crowd pops. Battleground goes off the air.
