– An estimated 850-1000 fans attended tonight’s WWE NXT live event in Columbus, Ohio. It was mostly standing room only with many fans standing up for the entire show. This was the first NXT event to be held outside of Florida. As noted, some of the matches were taped to eventually air on the WWE Network.
– Fans in attendance at tonight’s show noted that indie women’s wrestler LuFisto was sitting at ringside.
– A “WWE Showcase” match with Big Show vs. Ryback took place at tonight’s NXT event and it was not well received by fans at all, according to a correspondent in attendance. Big Show vs. Ryback was happening live in Columbus as it was airing on tonight’s taped SmackDown episode.
Big Show was met with “please retire” chants. Our correspondent noted that he replied to those chants by saying his contract has 10 more years left on it. This brought on a “10 more years” chant from the rowdy NXT crowd. Other chants included “we want Divas” and “same old chant.” A fan in attendance believes it’s not likely that this match will air because of the crowd reaction.
– It should be noted that the “WWE Showcase” match with Big Show vs. Ryback that fans rejected at tonight’s NXT live event was actually a very good match in the ring, according to another correspondent in attendance. He noted that the match ended well and was very fun.
Big Show tweeted the following after the show:
#NXTColumbus thank you for a great night.I haven’t had that much fun in years! The future is bright! Amazing talent! Go NXT! I’m a huge fan.
