2/5/65 – Kiel Auditorium (Attendance: 12,186 sellout)
NWA Champion Lou Thesz defeated Pat O’Connor, taking the only fall of the one-hour match after 54:58. After this bout, the NWA ruled that if O’Connor had won the only fall within the time limit, he would have taken the title. Some time later, however, the rule was changed so that the challenger had to win two falls, and the deciding fall not by disqualification or count out, to get the championship. In a one-fall title duel, of course, the challenger could not earn the crown if he won by either disqualification or count-out.

Bobby Bruns, Bill Longson, Joe Tangaro, Pat O’Connor and two referees restrained Bruiser, who punched Bruns and got into another brawl with O’Connor.

NWA Champion Lou Thesz won 2/3 falls over Dick the Bruiser. After Bruiser won the first fall, Thesz won as Bruiser was counted out outside the ring when Thesz hit Bruiser with a series of drop kicks that knocked Bruiser over the ropes and head first into the ring bell, leaving Bruiser bloody and stunned. Thesz pinned Bruiser for the third fall. John Paul Henning, Pat O’Connor and Cowboy Bob Ellis defeated Fritz Von Erich, Hans Schmidt and Gene Kiniski. 1-Kiniski defeated O’Connor. 2-O’Connor won via DQ. 3-O’Connor defeated Schmidt while Kiniski and Von Erich got into an argument and began brawling.

Gene Kiniski was set to face Nick Bockwinkel, when Kiniski was attacked right after the introductions by Fritz Von Erich, who applied the Iron Claw. Kiniski was bleeding and helped from the ring. Thus, Bockwinkel met Dan Plechas and Bockwinkel won two of three falls.
Fritz Von Erich no contest Ronnie Etchison. During the bout, Gene Kiniski attacked Von Erich, who was cut after Kiniski leaped on him from the top rope. Fritz then had to be helped to the dressing room.

Originally, Guy Mitchell began as Valentine’s partner. 1-Bruiser defeated Mitchell. 2-Mitchell won via DQ. 3-Valentine missed a brainbuster aimed at Bruiser and knocked out Mitchell, who was helped to the dressing room while Bruiser and Savage ganged up on Valentine. Dory Funk Jr. was sent out to replace Mitchell and Funk knocked Bruiser out of the ring. Valentine then pinned Savage.

Dory Sr., however, was injured in an auto accident so the match was changed to Bruiser having to win two straight falls from Dory Jr. or forfeiting. Dory Sr. was announced as being at ringside to second his son.

Bobby Graham, now billed mostly as Hercules Graham, defeated Gus Kalas
Johnny Powers no contest Fritz Von Erich. Originally, Von Erich was to face Lorenzo Parente until Powers got into the ring and demanded to meet Von Erich which Sam Muchnick approved. When referee Milo Occhi was injured, missing a potential pin by Powers while officials went to aid Occhi, Athletic Commissioner Charlie Pian tried to restart the match but the entire battle got out of hand and was ruled no contest.
Dory Funk Sr. and Dory Funk Jr. defeated Joe Tomasso and the Black Shadow. 1-Shadow won via DQ when the Funks were disqualified for pulling off Shadow’s mask. Shadow was Johnny Long. 2-Sr. defeated Tomasso. 3-Jr. defeated Long.

(Larry’s thoughts… Many observers felt that the trend of making a match for a television show like Raw was so new and inventive. Granted, today’s creative team probably had no idea that this had been done before, but scanning through the St. Louis results will demonstrate a few moments when Muchnick changed or made a match on TV to further an angle. Because it was not over done, it meant something when it happened and usually led to a big gate. In fact, some of the 90-minute programs and usage of mid-level talent against stars very much resembles what happened on WWE television at times in the 2000s.)

Wilbur Snyder defeated Mongolian Stomper
Gene Kiniski and Bobby “Hercules” Graham defeated Joe Tangaro and Bobby Managoff. 1-Graham defeated Managoff. 2-Managoff defeated Graham. 3-Kiniski defeated Tangaro.

The Masked Marauders no contest against Guy Mitchell and Bobby Managoff. 1-Managoff defeated Marauder #1. 2-Marauder #2 defeated Mitchell. By this point, it was apparent that the Marauders were Gene Kiniski and Hercules Graham. 3-Mitchell could not continue, leaving Managoff on his own. NWA Champion Lou Thesz, on hand for a match against Ray Gordon, rushed in to aid Managoff. Thesz pitched Marauder #1 over the top rope and, while Managoff held Marauder #2, Thesz yanked off the mask to reveal Kiniski. Thesz then threw Kiniski over the top rope before all four began battling and the match was stopped.
